This was my first Co-Op as an Electrical Engineering student at YCP. Starting in May 2019, I was a Controls Technician Intern, working with HVAC systems. My responsibilities:
· Wired, performed startup and troubleshooting of HVAC control systems and devices including programmable controllers, VAV boxes, temperature and humidity sensors and water valves
· Designed floor plan graphics for front end customer use.
· Set up controls networks through BACnet, Ethernet and Wireless protocols
This was the main project I was put on, working with 4 Air Handling Units, close to 400 VAV boxes across 5 floors, each with corresponding sensors and valves. An interesting job since each floor was in a unique stage of development. For example, when I arrived, the 4th floor was close to being completed while the 1st floor did not have the VAV boxes or air ducts installed. This meant I got to see every stage of an HVAC installation project, in great detail.
