This was my first labor experience. Being part of my Electronics Technician degree from EESTN6 in San Nicolas, Buenos Aires, Argentina, I had to find an internship in line with my studies.
Ternium Siderar is the largest industrial employer in the Ramallo/San Nicolas area, producing steel coils
The internship program became a part of a bigger program in Siderar called Gen Tecnico, dedicated to showcase not only student involved with the company, but teachers associated with the internships, site directors, senior employees, etc. I was fortunate to have been interviewed for an article in the company's magazine "Gente del Acero".
A translation of the article:
"Ezequiel C. Sedano, student from Escuela Tecnica Nº6, San Nicolas
These practices are a first introduction to labor. As soon as I started, I was given thorough training and modules related to leadership, communication and safety. Here, you are made to take your job very seriously, and the environment is great. On site, we share lunch with our tutors and other employees, and outside company time, I was even invited to barbecues. I always felt like an equal employee. Apart from applying what I learned in school, I learned to respect the job routine and to fulfill my responsibilities"
I still feel this way about this internship even 5 years later, I believe this internship was a very important part of my forming as an engineer, since it gave me the first taste of what it means to work in a giant industry to produce amazing things.
I found my old Class of 2015 "Coat of Arms", embroidered on our senior year jackets, designed by Juani Zapata, one of my classmates.
